For Kids, By Kids is an organization based on the Mornington Peninsula operated by young people specifically targeting youth mental health issues.
Our aim as an organization is to make the connection between young people and help. Often people feel intimidated or scared to reach out and seek help, even when it is urgently needed. For Kids, By Kids operate as a referral body to encourage young people living with mental health issues to speak up with confidence, without being embarrassed or ashamed.
As well as helping to make a connection between young people and help, For Kids, By Kids financially support Youth Mental Health Services by raising money throughout the year - 100% of our profits are donated to providing services form young people to access. In the past we have donated to organizations such as Headspace, Steppingstones Foundation, Youth BeyondBlue, REACH and Suicide Prevention Australia.
The organization specifically uses ‘The Arts’ as an avenue to connect with young people.
It can be hard for young people to articulate confusing emotions through words – the arts are a great method for people to express emotion, lease tension and give people insight.
Founded in 2011, For Kids By Kids have received over $30,000 in monetary donations and hundreds of artworks and creative pieces from young and professional artists, we have provided stages for young musicians to perform on and much more!
