As part of the Hastings Streetscape renewal project, Mornington Peninsula Shire is inviting local artists to submit a concept design for the painting of a large mural within the O’Toole Walk in Hastings. The laneway is dedicated to the O’Toole family and particularly to Dermot O’Toole, who was tragically killed at his Hastings jewellery store in 2013. Working closely with the family, Council has recently upgraded this laneway to create a place that is infused with meaning and connection for the O’Toole family. The new mural will be approximately 15m x 3m high and will be a colourful, vibrant and detailed montage of imagery that pays respect to Dermot O’Toole, the Irish heritage of the O’Toole family and their connections and contributions to Hastings. Submissions close 12 July 2019 at 12:00pm.
