"The Hornets are steeped in the blues, they rise out of the Yarra Valley delta meeting at the mythical crossroads where Chicago grit has blown in. This is an earthy blues band with a pedigree of outstanding musicians" ~ The Age’s Warwick McFadyen about their latest album Lowdown in Lockdown.
The Hornets have been a mainstay of Melbourne and Australia’s blues and roots scene for two and a half decades.
The current line-up of the band includes its three constant members. Singer, songwriter and guitarist, Craig Horne, ARIA Hall of Fame guitarist, Jeff Burstin (Jo Jo Zep, Black Sorrows), and ARIA Award winning keyboardist Bruce Haymes (Archie Roach, Paul Kelly).
To celebrate their silver anniversary, The Hornets will launch their brand new album 'Lowdown in Lockdown' with songs like 'Nothing Stays the Same' and the stunning gospel fuelled 'Distracted by Distractions' that captures the blues and boredom of musicians being trapped at home and denied the stage for 18 months. Rowdy opener 'I Ain’t Drunk (Just Drinking)', is soaked in the relief and release of winning freedom.
June 18 will be a very special night at The Pig and Whistle, so don’t miss it!
