NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHIC PORTRAIT PRIZE
National Portrait Gallery exhibition
28 September – 26 November 2017
See forty-nine of the year’s best photographic portraits in the 2017 National Photographic Portrait Prize. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, this annual prize is open to both aspiring and professional photographers and reflects the distinctive vision of contemporary photographic portraiture from across the country.
Renowned Sydney portrait photographer Gary Grealy took out the $25,000 award with his portrait of Richard Morecroft and Alison Mackay. For the first time ever, the National Portrait Gallery awarded two Highly Commended finalists: John Benavente for his portrait titled Renaissance Rose and Brett Canet-Gibson for his portrait Mastura.
Supported by the National Collecting Institutions Touring and Outreach Program, an Australia Government program aiming to improve access to the national collections for all Australians.
Free guided tours: Saturday & Sundays 3pm, no bookings required.
