Participants will learn about the mechanics of writing poetry, what makes poetry the unique type of literature it is and to identify distinctions between poems best suited for page (reading) or stage (performing). We will discuss the how, why, and what works best for both formats along with tips for editing and improving your writing. Each person in the class will be given time to write two short poems and perform them to the group. I will provide coaching tips for successful performance.

I am a three time Victorian State Finalist in the Australian Poetry Slam. I've been a finalist three times in Poetry Idol at the Melbourne Writer's Festival along with other festivals and readings. My poems are widely published. I bring a wealth of experience to the writing table. Come join in creating page poems or spoken word pieces.
